Compatible = built-in MID-certified meter, required for ERE registration with the NEa. "Check per unit" means it varies by production year or variant — check the type plate or email us.
Does a NexBlue charger qualify for ERE registration?
With NexBlue the rule of thumb is refreshingly simple: the "Max" suffix is the MID tell. The Edge Max has a built-in MID-certified kWh meter and therefore qualifies for ERE registration. The plain Edge and the Edge 2 don't have that meter — perfectly good chargers, but their internal metering isn't assured and so it doesn't count.
The same pattern runs through the commercial side of the range: the Delta Max is the MID version, the plain Delta is not.
Why that meter is so decisive is covered in MID meter explained. In short: without certified metering inside the charge point itself there is nothing to register with the NEa, however smart the rest of your charger is.
Connecting with your own NexBlue account
NexBlue runs an open cloud API and — more importantly for you — it is explicitly meant for end users as well. So you need no special registration, no installer and no business account: you connect with the credentials of your ordinary myNexBlue account, straight from the portal. One thing we'd rather say up front: NexBlue access expires periodically and can only be renewed with your login details. That's why they are stored encrypted, with the key kept strictly separate from the database, and deleted the moment you disconnect. Where a brand offers a consent screen we prefer that route — with NexBlue this is the route available today.
This connection is new, which means we review the first charge sessions manually before they count. You won't notice much beyond a slightly longer wait for your first sessions to appear in your overview.
Got an Edge or Edge 2?
Then nothing changes about charging itself, but ERE registration is out. That can't be fixed with a firmware update or a separate meter next to the unit either: certification belongs to the charge point, and that requirement can't be met retroactively.
If you're about to replace or expand, treat the MID meter as a purchase criterion. With your own myNexBlue account, directly in the portal — no installer, no separate registration with NexBlue. After that your charge sessions flow in automatically and you never have to submit meter readings.
