Compatible = built-in MID-certified meter, required for ERE registration with the NEa.
Does an Easee charger qualify for ERE registration?
That depends on your model. The current Charge Max and Charge Pro have a built-in MID-certified kWh meter — exactly what the NEa requires — so they qualify for earning money charging at home. The Easee Home, for years one of the most popular home chargers in the Netherlands, lacks that meter, as do the Charge Lite and the standard Charge.
Why that meter matters so much is covered in MID meter explained — in short: without assured metering nothing can be booked, however smart your charger is.
Easee Home: widely sold, no MID meter
Got an Easee Home? Nothing changes about charging itself — the unit keeps working. ERE registration is simply out: the internal metering isn't MID-certified and that cannot be fixed with an update or accessory.
If you're about to replace or expand, treat the MID meter as a purchase criterion. The overview of chargers with a MID meter shows what qualifies per brand and model, and the earnings calculator shows what registration is indicatively worth.
Connecting Easee: automatic via your Easee account
You connect a qualifying Easee once through your own Easee account; after that your charge sessions flow in automatically — no meter readings, no manual work. The step-by-step guide is in Connecting Easee. We also include sessions from earlier in the calendar year, so as little as possible is left on the table.
Not sure about your model? Run the charger check — you'll have your answer within a minute.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Easee Home have a MID meter?
No. The Easee Home has no built-in MID-certified meter and therefore doesn't qualify for ERE registration. The same applies to the Charge Lite and the standard Charge.
Which Easee models qualify for ERE registration?
The Easee Charge Max and Charge Pro have a built-in MID-certified meter and qualify for ERE registration with the NEa.
How do I see which Easee model I have?
You'll find the model name in the Easee app under your product and on the type plate of the charger itself. Your purchase invoice also states the exact version.
Do charge sessions from earlier this year count too?
Yes. Sessions from the current calendar year can be booked retroactively, provided your charger has recorded the history in an assured way. For a qualifying Easee model we fetch that history automatically.
