Ohme & ERE certificates

Some Ohme models do have a built-in MID meter, so the hardware qualifies. We just can't read Ohme charging data yet, so connecting isn't possible for now.

Every Ohme model we know of — compatible and not — so you can find your own charger with certainty.

Compatible = built-in MID-certified meter, required for ERE registration with the NEa. "Check per unit" means it varies by production year or variant — check the type plate or email us.

With Ohme, the answer hangs on the version

Ohme is a British brand best known in the Netherlands for tariff-linked smart charging: the unit tracks dynamic energy prices and charges when electricity is cheap. None of that counts for ERE registration, which turns purely on whether there's a MID-certified meter inside the charge point. With Ohme, the answer splits in two: one version simply qualifies, for another it depends on the unit.

The ePod, the compact 22 kW wall unit, has no built-in MID meter. That rules it out for ERE registration, however well it charges otherwise. It can't be retrofitted either: MID certification lives in the hardware, not in the software.

The Home Pro line is the interesting case, and the reason this page exists.

The split in the Home Pro line

The Home Pro didn't stay a single product. Since roughly November 2024 Ohme has sold the version with a built-in MID-certified meter as its own model: the Home Pro MID. If that's what you have, the metering side is simply in order — on that model the MID meter is standard.

The split concerns the plain Home Pro. Units sold under that name before the split may or may not have the meter, and you can barely tell from the outside. That's why we list the plain Home Pro as check per unit. Here's how to work out what you have:

  • The type plate: look for the MID marking, a green M with the last two digits of the certification year (M24 means certified in 2024). No M, no MID.
  • Your purchase invoice: the purchase date is a strong indication, and the type designation on the invoice distinguishes the plain Home Pro from the MID version.
  • The supplied documentation: a MID meter comes with a declaration or certificate stating the metering type.

Even with the right meter: connecting isn't possible yet

If your Home Pro turns out to be the MID version, the metering side is in order — but with us you then run into the second obstacle, which is reading the data.

Ohme has no official public API for third parties. The integrations in circulation have been reverse-engineered from the app by the user community, and that's no foundation for us: such integrations typically require the password to your own Ohme account, they can break without warning, and they aren't sanctioned by the manufacturer. For a service where every registered kWh has to remain auditable years later, that isn't enough. Nor does Ohme support OCPP — the open protocol many other brands use to send their sessions to a platform of the owner's choosing; everything runs through their own cloud.

An integration would therefore have to go through an agreement with Ohme itself. That's a conversation, not an engineering job, and we won't predict how or when it lands.

Does the Ohme Home Pro have a MID meter?
