Smappee & ERE certificates

Current Smappee models have no built-in MID meter and therefore unfortunately don't qualify for ERE registration.

Models

Compatible = built-in MID-certified meter, required for ERE registration with the NEa.

Does a Smappee charger qualify for ERE registration?

Honest answer: we're verifying it. Smappee sells the EV Wall, EV One and EV Base in multiple versions, and the specifications around the built-in meter differ per version and production year. The Eichrecht version demonstrably has a MID-certified meter (class B); for the standard versions the spec sheets contradict each other. That's why the Smappee models sit at being verified in our overview — we'd rather say nothing yet than something we can't back up.

What you can do now

  • Check the type plate of your charger for a MID marking (class B). If it's there, your meter satisfies the NEa's core requirement.
  • Keep your purchase documentation — it states the exact version, useful once the status per model is confirmed.
  • Run the charger check — as soon as the MID status of the Smappee models is confirmed, you'll see it there first.

Why that MID meter is so decisive is covered in MID meter explained; what registration is worth once your charger turns out to qualify, the earnings calculator will show you.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Smappee EV Wall qualify for ERE registration?

That is currently being verified. Smappee sells versions with and without a MID-certified meter, and specifications differ per production year. As soon as the MID status per model is confirmed, we'll update the overview.

How do I see whether my Smappee has a MID meter?

Check the type plate of the charger or the technical specifications of your exact version for a MID marking (class B). The Eichrecht version has a MID-certified meter in any case.

Why is Smappee listed as 'being verified'?

Because the sources contradict each other: older spec sheets of the standard EV Wall don't claim MID certification, newer ones do. We want that confirmed in writing per model before we say 'qualifies'.
