Compatible = built-in MID-certified meter, required for ERE registration with the NEa. "Check per unit" means it varies by production year or variant — check the type plate or email us.
Does a Volt Time charger qualify for ERE registration?
Volt Time is a Dutch brand, and its range has one clear dividing line: the "Business" suffix carries the MID meter, the plain residential model does not. That holds for the current entry model — the One is out, the One Business qualifies — and it already held for the previous generation: Source 2 no, Source 2 Business yes. The Source 2s and the commercial Two Pro have a built-in MID-certified meter as well.
The One Business goes a step further with a MID Class C meter, Eichrecht support and V2G readiness. Nice to have for ERE registration, but not what decides it: the requirement is and remains built-in, certified metering per charge point. How that rule works is explained in MID meter explained.
Still running a Source? This part matters
The Source line went out of production in the fourth quarter of 2024; the current range is One, One Business and Two Pro. In practice that means plenty of Sources are still on Dutch walls, owned by people who plan to keep them for years. Being discontinued says nothing about eligibility — a Source 2 Business or Source 2s counts perfectly well, even though the model no longer appears on the manufacturer's site.
Not sure which variant you have? The lettering on the type plate is what counts, not the box it came in. The margin is thin: "Source 2" and "Source 2 Business" differ by one word in the name and a MID meter in the housing. If the plate says nothing useful, check your installer's quote or invoice — the full article number is usually there. When in doubt the charger check sorts it out in a minute.
Connecting: a token, not a password
Volt Time runs on the Plugchoice platform, which works in your favour: you create a personal API token in your own dashboard and paste it into the portal. Your password stays with Volt Time. The walkthrough is in Connecting your Volt Time charger.
Volt Time is outspoken about ERE — the brand mentions ERE registration in its own product communication. That doesn't mean registration happens by itself: someone has to submit the sessions to the NEa, manage the mandate and sell the certificates. Frequently asked questions
Does the Volt Time One have a MID meter?
The plain One doesn't, the One Business does. Only the Business version has a built-in MID-certified meter and therefore qualifies for ERE registration with the NEa.
My Volt Time Source 2 is discontinued — can I still take part?
That depends on the version. The Source 2 Business and the Source 2s have a built-in MID meter and still qualify, even though the Source line went out of production at the end of 2024. The plain Source 2 has no MID meter and doesn't qualify.
Which Volt Time models qualify for ERE registration?
The One Business, the Source 2 Business, the Source 2s and the Two Pro. The plain One and the plain Source 2 have no built-in MID meter and are out.
How do I connect my Volt Time charger?
With a personal API token you create yourself in the Volt Time dashboard and paste into the portal. You never share your password, and after that your charge sessions flow in automatically.
