Cancelling your mandate or closing your account
Cancelling with effect from next calendar year, your 14-day cooling-off period, and what happens to your data and charge sessions when you close your account.
There are two ways to leave Revvolt, and the difference comes down to the mandate. It applies for the current calendar year — that's a legal property of the registration system, not our choice. You'll find both options in the Revvolt portal under Settings → Cancel or close your account.
Cancelling your mandate (recommended if you want to switch)
Want to move to another registration provider, or simply stop? Then just cancel your mandate. This is almost always the better choice:
- Your mandate for the current year simply runs out on 31 December; everything you charge this year still counts and gets paid out.
- From 1 January your EAN is free again and you can switch.
- You keep access to your account, your dashboard and your full charging history.
Here's how:
- Open your settings. In the portal, go to Settings and scroll to Cancel or close your account.
- Choose "Cancel mandate". You'll first see exactly what happens and when it takes effect.
- Confirm. Done — we won't renew, and there's nothing else you need to do. If you want to start with another provider on 1 January, cancel by 30 November at the latest.
More about switching in Switching registration providers.
Within the 14-day cooling-off period: closing your account
After signing the mandate you have a statutory 14-day cooling-off period. If you close your account within that period, we treat it as a withdrawal — as if the mandate never existed:
- The mandate is withdrawn and your EAN is free again immediately, so you can still move to another provider this year.
- Charge sessions we've already recorded are marked as withdrawn. We do not submit them to the NEa and they earn nothing.
- Your personal data is deleted.
You don't strictly need the portal for this: an email to support@revvolt.nl within the cooling-off period works too.
Closing your account after the cooling-off period
Once the cooling-off period has passed, your mandate stays valid for the current calendar year — even if you close your account. So it works differently then:
- If everything has already been paid out, you can close right away. You can no longer sign in afterwards, and we stop recording new charge sessions.
- If we still owe you a payout, you request the closure. We then cancel your mandate immediately (it won't be renewed), but your account keeps working as normal: this year's charge sessions still count and get paid out. Once your last payout has been settled, we close your account automatically. Changed your mind in the meantime? You can withdraw the request in your settings until the moment of closure.
Note: closing your account does not release you from your mandate any sooner. Your EAN stays linked to us through 31 December, so switching is only possible from the new year — exactly as with cancelling, but without your dashboard. If all you want is to leave, cancelling is enough; closing is only needed if you also want your account gone.
What happens to your data
We deliberately say closing your account, not deleting it. When you close, we delete your personal data (name, phone number) and you can no longer sign in. But the records underlying an ERE registration — charge sessions, mandates, verifications — must be retained for the NEa and the tax authorities, even after closure. That data is no longer used for anything; it remains available for audit only. See also our privacy statement.
Frequently asked questions
Can I end my mandate mid-year?
No. A mandate applies for the current calendar year and can't stop halfway. You can cancel at any time, though — it then takes effect from the next calendar year.
I just signed and changed my mind. Can I get out?
Yes. Within 14 days of signing the mandate you have a cooling-off period: close your account in the portal or email us at support@revvolt.nl. The mandate lapses and your EAN is free again immediately.
What happens to my charge sessions when I close my account?
Within the cooling-off period, this calendar year's charge sessions are marked as withdrawn — we don't submit them to the NEa and they earn nothing. After the cooling-off period they are kept: we sell those EREs and pay you the proceeds.
Why doesn't my account close immediately?
While charge sessions are stored whose proceeds we still owe you, we keep your account open — otherwise we can't pay you. You request the closure: we cancel your mandate and close your account automatically once everything has been paid out.
