Transferring ownership of a charging station
Moved house or sold your charger? Here's how to transfer your charging station to its new owner in the Revvolt portal — with the right transfer date, so everyone's sessions are attributed to the right person.
Moved house or sold your charger? You can hand your charging station over to its new owner cleanly in the Revvolt portal. Your historical data is kept, and thanks to the transfer date everyone's charge sessions are attributed to the right person. Here's how it works.
Where do I find this?
Go to Charging stations, click the charging station you want to transfer to open its detail page, and choose Transfer to new owner at the bottom. Want to simply disconnect a charging station you no longer use (without a transfer)? Use Disconnect instead.
How to transfer your charging station
- Open the charging station details. Via Charging stations → click the relevant charging station.
- Choose "Transfer to new owner". A dialog with a few fields appears.
- Enter the transfer date. The date the new owner took over the charging station. From that date, sessions no longer count for you.
- Enter the new owner's details. Email address, first name and last name.
- Type CONFIRM and confirm. The charging station is disconnected from your account. Your historical data is kept, but no new sessions are recorded.
What happens next?
- Does the new owner already have a Revvolt account? We email them that a charging station has been transferred to them. It appears on their account as soon as they connect it with their own account.
- No account yet? We invite them to create a free account and connect the charging station.
- Either way, the new owner accepts the transfer by connecting the charging station with their own account — using the transfer date you entered. They're free to accept the transfer or not.
Disconnecting without a transfer
No longer using the charging station and there's no new owner? Choose Disconnect on the detail page, enter the date from which you stopped using it, and type CONFIRM. Your historical data is kept and we stop recording new sessions. As long as nobody else claims the charging station, you can reconnect it later at any time.
Safe and auditable
We record every transfer and disconnection in our auditable log. If someone transfers a charging station to you while you're still connected, a Revvolt team member reviews the transfer manually — we may then ask for a written confirmation from the previous owner. That keeps the records correct for everyone.
Frequently asked questions
What happens to my historical charge sessions after a transfer?
They stay on your account for the records and are recorded up to the transfer date. From the transfer date onward, new sessions no longer count for you.
Does the new owner need a Revvolt account already?
No. If they already have one, the charging station appears there once they connect it. If not, we email them an invitation to create a free account. Either way they accept the transfer by connecting the charging station with their own account — there's no obligation.
Can I get a charging station back after disconnecting?
Yes, as long as nobody else has claimed it. Just reconnect it via Connect charging station; any open transfer is then cancelled.
Why do you ask for a transfer date?
The date sets until when sessions count for you and from when they count for the new owner, so nobody can retroactively claim sessions that weren't theirs.
