Verifying your location with your energy bill

Why we ask for an energy bill and how the check works.

To register ERE's, it must be established that the mains connection is in your name. The NEa and an independent verifier check this as well β€” which is why we record the evidence up front.

What do you upload?

A recent energy bill (at most 12 months old), as a PDF or photo. Make sure these three things are visible:

  1. Your name β€” of the connection owner
  2. The supply address β€” the address of your charging station
  3. The EAN code β€” shown on most annual and monthly statements

How do we check?

Your document is analyzed automatically right after upload. We compare the name, address and EAN code on the bill with your registered location. If everything matches, your location is verified immediately β€” usually within a minute.

If we can't establish everything automatically, a team member reviews your document personally. You'll hear from us quickly; no extra action needed.

Good to know

  • Every check is recorded β€” you can see the full history with your location details.
  • The verification is valid for one year; after that we ask for a new bill to confirm the connection is still in your name.
  • Moving house, or does the connection owner change? Report it immediately via the portal.
